Buddy Ball .... need participants and volunteers:
Gainesville/Haymarket Baseball League is trying to start a "Buddy Ball" team if the interest is there. What is "Buddy Ball" you may ask? To my understanding "Buddy Ball" is a league for individuals who have special needs or disabilities. After researching other leagues, it looks like it ranges in ages 6-15, but we are specifically looking for interested middle/high school students to make this possible. "Buddy Ball" offers programs in soccer, swimming, basketball, bowling, and baseball. But again, we are specifically looking for interested baseball fans at this time.
Currently Woodbridge and Nokesville have teams and they play each other .... wouldn't it be great to get enough participants to make two Gainesville teams and all play each other? Practices and Games are to begin in April and games would be played at Hellwig Park off of Bristow Road.
Would your son or daughter be interested in playing a league sport with their friends? If so, this is for them!!!! How exciting would it be to be able to help create and be a part of something in our area! Please feel free to pass the word to your friends/family in the area.
Attached is a copy of the Buddy Ball Flyer .... I was told by Dr. Bishop that students under 21 years of age and still in school will be allowed to register and play ball ;) Please pass the word to all ... only 3 individuals have registered as of today!
Patriot Interact members are eager to volunteer and help out! Let's make history!!!!!

Next Meeting: December 10 at 2:00 in room 1116
**** We have adopted two little girls- a 4 year old and a 9 year old.
Here is the info you need:
4 year old girl: size 5T clothes; needs clothes, toys (Princess goodies; favorite colors are pink and purple)
9 year old girl: size 10 clothes: needs clothes (leggings), games, and her favorite color is purple
This year we are just doing clothing and toys, no food. You may of course do gift cards as well if you wish. We would like to have a toy and a few articles of clothing for every child if possible. *Remember do not wrap any of the gifts.*
Please drop your gifts off before or after school any day up until Friday, December 13 to room 1116.
Salvation Army Bell Ringing: December 14 from 10-6 at Walmart in Haymarket. We need more volunteers to help be more successful. Please stop by room 1116 and sign up for a time slot to help Ring the Bell on December 14. We need your volunteering commitment ... join us!!!!
Haymarket Food Pantry Volunteers:
The times that the Food Pantry is open to the public:
1. Tuesday nights 6 - 8
2. Thursday nights 6 - 8
3. Saturday mornings 9 - 12
However, they have people working there virtually every day of the week these days. The number of people they serve is over 500 a week now so they are super busy. Outside the normal operating hours they have people who stock the shelves, stock the bread, clean out the refrigerators, sweep the floor, etc
They also have some big projects coming up. They are moving the "storage" room in the back of the house to another room in the house - lots of cans to move and shelves to move, painting to be done before and after, cleaning, etc.
They are setting up an educational center in the room that used to be storage - it will probably take place over a couple of different weekends ... they will need help!!
Running food drives is always a great thing!! Here's a link to the website - they are really going to need help with the items for the Christmas dinners as Thanksgiving is so late this year - they fill up all of the Thanksgiving baskets and then two weeks later it's time to do it again - not an easy feat for over 500 families
Students/Volunteers do need to fill out the form on the website and attend the training prior to working.
meeting notes from 10/22
Trick or treat for UNICEF on Halloween day, come talk to Mrs. Bell to get a box!
Trick-Or-Treat for UNICEF
What is Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF?
On Halloween night, participants in the project will go trick-or-treating, but instead of (or in addition to) collecting candy, they will collect donations for UNICEF with their official Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF boxes.
What is UNICEF?
UNICEF is the United Nations Children Fund. It is the largest international charitable organization in the world specifically devoted to helping children. UNICEF provides children all around the world lifesaving immunizations, food, water, and education.
Where do the funds go?
All funds raised will be sent to help UNICEF with its Eliminate Project, UNICEF’s global initiative to end maternal and neonatal tetanus. MNT is a deadly disease that kills tens of thousands or newborns each year. However, a series of immunizations costing only $1.80 can protect a mother and all her future children from the disease. We are helping Key Club.
Where do I turn in the money?
Turn in the money and the box to Mr. Dulin’s room, 1403A, in the morning or after school on the Friday and Monday (11/1 and 11-4) immediately after Halloween. Or please bring them to room 1116 – Mrs. Bell’s room
- Bring money for those of you who got pioneer cards and for the club joining fee.... Need money turned in ASAP :)
- On Veterans Day at old Vint hill military base at Vint hill VA, Holy trinity Catholic Church is doing their first annual 10K/5K/Fun run, honoring the combat wounded soldiers. Come to the meeting on 11/6/13 for more information on it!

Children's Wellness Fair
The Festival is at Metz Middle School in Manassas on Saturday October 13, 2012. Student helpers should count on being at the Festival from 10:00 AM until about
3:30 PM, but they may finish a little before depending on flow of work.
The students would be serving as escorts to help move people from one health station to another, parking attendants, and general clean up after the affair. It is a good experience for any young participant. Please send the names if some are interested so we can keep count of what may be needed. Students should be at Metrz Middle School in Manassas by 10:00 AM or a few minutes earlier if possible. Send names as soon as possible because we want to have all work scheduling done and ready for work at least five days before the Festival.
Please know, if you signed up, I will be submitting your name! It is important that you follow through!!
