The Xi Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the Ira Dorsey Scholarship Endowment Fund are sponsoring the 2016 MLK Oratorical Contest. The Oratorical Contest is open to male and female students between the ages of 14 through 18. The theme for the 2016 MLK Oratorical Contest is, “Achieving the Dream.” The program will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Hilton McLean Tyson's Corner, 7920 Jones Branch Drive, McLean, VA 22042.
A typed copy of the written speech and the Oratorical Contest entry form MUST be mailed and postmarked or email stamped no later than November 24, 2015. The Oratorical Contest Entry form must be completed and signed by parent(s) and mailed no later than the same date in order to be eligible.
Upon completion of essay presentations at the MLK Oratorical Contest, the top four finalists will be selected by a panel of judges and given a monetary scholarship award and plaque.
Attached you will find the contest application with detailed instructions for completing the application package. We respectfully request you provide this application to all qualified students including those in your debate, forensics, Model UN, or drama programs.
