Photo Biography

Patriot High School is proud to welcome Ms. Stephanie Hicks, currently Assistant Principal at Poquoson High Schoo,l as the newest member of the Administrative Team at Patriot High School, effective July 1, 2012. Ms. Hicks has been an Assistant Principal at Poquoson since 2009. Previously she has worked in the Newport News School system as an Administrative Intern, Biology Teacher, and coach. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Christopher Newport University, a Masters degree in Educational Leadership from The George Washington University, and is currently working on completing a Doctorate in Education, also from The George Washington University. 



Mr. Corey Finn was born and raised in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Lock Haven University with a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Mathematics education. Shortly after graduating, Mr. Finn moved to Virginia to teach at Cumberland County High School. During his stay at Cumberland, Mr. Finn taught Geometry and Algebra, Functions, and Data Analysis. He also has experience teacing and assisting students with Algebra I, Trigonometry, and Calculus. Mr. Finn is very excited that he will be teaching at Patriot High School and is looking forward to meeting all students and staff.






Ms. Lindsey Seaton, originallly from Michigan, grew up in the suburbs of Detroit. She graduated from Michigan State University with a BA in History. Since 2006, she has been a Social Studies teacher at Westlake High School in Charles County, Maryland. Recently, Ms. Seaton completed her Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Maryland. Ms. Seaton was nominated to represent Westlake for Charles County Teacher of the Year. She is currently serving as a member of the Charles County Historic Preservation Commission. Ms. Seaton is looking forward to beginning a new chapter in her career as a member of Patriot High School for the 2012-13 school year.





Mr. Chad Cavender is joining Patriot High School from Westlake HIgh School in Waldorf, Maryland, where he has been teaching since 2007. A Michigan native, Mr. Cavender, graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor's in Secondary Education English. While at Westlake, Mr. Cavender taught English, ran the school newspaper, and was a English team leader. He also coached golf and tennis. Currently, Mr. Cavender is attending George Washington University to earn his Master's in Educational Leadership and Administration. Mr. Cavender is an avid golfer and Detroit's sports teams fan. He is excited to come to the Patriot community and looks forward to becoming a contributing member of the Pioneer staff.



Mrs. Catherine Storke graduated from James Madison University and has taught English and journalism in Fairfax County. She earned a Master's degree in communication with a focus on Interactive Journalism in 2007 from American University.









Mr. Bryan Harvey grew up in Athens, Georgia and Fredericksburg, Virginia. He graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor's in English and a Master's in teaching. For the last five years he has taught English at Hylton High School. Mr. Harvey is also a published poet whose essays have appeared in various places around the internet. He owes a lot to the teaching philosophies of Vince Lombardi and Dean Smith, and despite the greatness of Aaron Rodgers, he is still getting over the heartbreak that is Brett Favre.








A graduate of Prince William County Public Schools, Ms. Erin Hudson is excited to return the area after six years of teaching at Woodside High School in Newport News, Virginia. She graduated with a Masters in Teaching from Christopher Newport University and has been a part of the Social Studies department at Woodside High School teaching World Geography, US History, and AP Human Geography. Ms. Hudson received National Board Certification in 2011. Ms. Hudson is honored and thrilled to be joining the emerging team at Patriot High School.






Ms. Elizabeth Day is a graduate of Marymount University (BA) and Central Michigan University (MA). She was a teacher for many years, but began teaching Spanish seven years ago. She was hooked on the Spanish language after taking a intro course at a community college. Her passion for learning Spanish and for teaching has led to a satisfying career in the field of education. She is very happy to be part of the Patriot staff for the 2012-13 school year. She looks forward to sharing her excitement with her students.






Mr. Kevin Surber, who is coming from Stonewall Jackson High School after 17 years, is a graduate from Virginia Tech with B.S. degree in Industrial Arts. He was a collegiate football and rugby player. He earned his Masters in Education form George Mason University. He will be teaching in our Career and Technical Education department. He also was the Defensive Line coach for the Patriot Pioneers for their inaugral season. Mr. Surber has vast experience in many sports, conditioning, and as an Assistant Activities Director at SJHS. He is excited to now work and coach at Patriot!





Ms. Mel Lawlor, from Stafford County, graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Arts in Earth and Space Science. She also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching. Ms. Lawlor is excited to be teaching Earth Science at Patriot High School and getting to know the staff and students.










Mr. Scott Seligman is from Clifton Park, a town in upstate NY near Albany. Mr. Seligman attended Keene State College in New Hampshire, where he recieved his BA in Mathematics and became certified in secondary education. While attending Keene, Mr. Seligman continued his high school athletic career in swimming. During his four years, he set school records and was voted captain of the team his senior year. For five years, Mr. Seligman has been teaching Mathematics at Mohonasen High School, in Rotterdam, NY.






Mrs. Debbie White, who has sixteen years of teaching experience, is coming from Gwinnett County, Georgia. Mrs. White received a B.S. Biology at the Roanoke College, Masters in Science Education from Virginia Tech, and achieved Educational Specialist in Math and Science from Brenau University. While at Patriot, Mrs. White will be working with our students and staff in the Science department.







Mr. Richard Douglas attended Penn State University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with an option in Actuarial Science and a minor in Probability and Statistics. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Administration from George Mason University. After teaching for eight years, Mr. Douglas has taught most high school math subjects including AP Statistics and AP Calculus AB.







Mr. Ken Keskel graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Operations Research, and earned his Master of Science in Industrial Engineering at the University of Florida. He was on active duty in the Air Force for 28 years, where he served as a commander and staff officer in Alabama, California, Colorado, Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, Virginia, Nevada, Texas, Japan, Panama, Saudi Arabia, and the Pentagon. Mr. Keskel retired from the Air Force as a Colonel. The Veteran is now a Patriot, and could not be happier developing tomorrow's leaders and teaching critical math skills. Go Pioneers!





Mr. Joe Banks arrives at Patriot High School after serving for 14 years in the Albemarle County Public School System as both a middle and high school counselor. Mr. Banks grew up in Northern Virginia and is excited about the opportunity to help the students of Patriot take advantage of all that the school and its greater community has to offer.








Mrs. Kimberly Stewart will be joining the Patriot High School staff from Baltimore, Maryland. She is originally from the Pittsburgh area where she graduated from Mercyhurst University with a Bachelor Degree in Secondary Social Studies Education. For the past seven years, she has been teaching at Loch Raven High School in Baltimore County. Mrs. Stewaret has taught a variety of subjects including United States History, World History, AP Government, and United States Government. Along with teaching, Mrs. Stewart coached Girls Varsity Volleyball, Indoor/Outdoor Track, along with advising the Princeton Model Congress students. Mrs. Stewart is very excited to join the "Red Nation" of Patriot High School.



Mrs. Sara Correll will be joining the staff of Patriot High School as part of the School Counseling team. Mrs. Correll earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Mary Washington and her master's degree in School Counseling from the University of Virginia. She has been a school counselor for PWCS for nine years. Mrs. Correll looks forward to joining the Patriot family.




Miss Wanson joins Patriot High School as an English teacher for the 2012-13 school year, coming from 6th grade Language Arts at Rippon Middle School in Woodbridge. Originally hailing form DuBois, Pennsylvania, she attended the Univeristy of Pittsburgh, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in fiction writing and psychology and her Master's in teaching. She is looking forward to bringing her positive energy and fresh ideas to Patriot High School.








Ms. Joy Fredericks is a graduate of Virginia Tech. She has been teaching, coaching, and advising in Fairfax County for the past nine year. Teaching is her passion and she is very excited to become a Pioneer.


Kristi Street is a graduate of George Mason University. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Masters of Education in Special Education. Mrs. Street holds endosrements in the areas of Learning Disabilities (LD) and Emotional Disabilities (ED) K-12.

Mrs. Street started her teaching career at Youth for Tomorrow in Bristow, VA, working with at-risk teenagers. She then transferred to Gar-Field High School, where she worked with students with LD. Mrs. Street has spent the last two years at Hylton HS teaching Earth Science and English 11 in a self-contained and inclusive classroom. Mrs. Street has taught a variety of subjects over her teaching career including Biology, Oceanography, and Algebra I.

Mrs. Street has a passion for teaching and strives to help each of her students work to their full potential. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to join the staff and faculty at Patriot High School and is looking forward to the upcoming school year.
Ms. Terry Rittenhouse is coming from Forest Park High School after 12 years. She is a graduate from Prince William County Schools. She graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor’s in Finance. After volunteering with young children that had learning and emotional disabilities, she decided to pursue a career in Special Education. She graduated from George Mason University with a Masters in Education. She is looking forward to working with the students and staff at Patriot High School.
Ms. Amber Davis is originally from the Pittsburgh area where she received her BS in Family and Consumer Sciences Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Since 2003, she has been teaching Nutrition, Culinary, and Child Development at North County High School, part of the Anne Arundel County Public School system. Ms. Davis earned her MS in Curriculum and Instruction/Educational Leadership from McDaniel College. She is very ecited to be a part of the FACS department and the Patriot community.
