General Information:

  • Teachers will be available to answer questions or work with students during normal school hours.  Please allow teachers two business days to respond to email communication.
  •  If you need additional assistance from your teacher, please schedule an appointment.  This can be done via email, Microsoft Teams, or through Google Classroom.
  •  While new material will not be covered, this is an opportunity for students to refine and remediate on standards or skills covered prior to March 13 and to prepare students for subsequent courses.
  •  Students should spend two hours per class per week (14 hours total for a student taking seven classes). The above schedule is a guide to help students manage time and establish a consistent routine.
  •  Teachers will follow the schedule outlined above; students can expect their Block 1 teacher to post activities or remediation opportunities twice per week (Monday and Wednesday).
  •  If the teacher is hosting a live virtual lesson, it will take place during the blocks assigned time or after 2:15 PM. Live virtual lessons will be recorded and posted for students to view at their convenience.
  •  Marking periods one, two, and three be averaged to determine the student’s final grade in the course.
  •  Any course standards not covered prior to March 13, 2020 will be covered during the 2020 – 2021 school year.
  •  Students may be eligible to retake summative assessments on standards covered prior to March 13.  Prior to being eligible to retake, the student must complete remediation. Teachers will provide the student with feedback on remediation prior to retaking the summative assessment.
  •  Elements of these documentmay not apply to Dual Enrollment coursework offered through NVCC or to AP coursework offered from the College Board. Those classes may be continuing online with new instruction and assessment based on their course pacing.

Instructional Focus:

Marking Period 3:  March 30 – April 24

  •  Focus on demonstrating mastery of content covered during the third marking period.
  •  Students may submit, take, or retake summative and formative assessments that were completed prior to March 13 during the third quarter.
  •  Prior to retaking a summative assessment, students must complete remediation. Teachers will provide the student with feedback on remediation completed prior to retaking the summative assessment.

Marking Period 4:  April 27 – June 12

  •  Focus on demonstrating mastery of content covered prior to March 13, 2020 and on skills necessary for success in subsequent courses. No grades will be assigned for this marking period.
  •  Students may be eligible to retake summative assessments on standards covered prior to March 13.  Prior to being eligible to retake, the student must complete remediation.  Teachers will provide the student with feedback on remediation prior to retaking the summative assessment.
  •  Grade changes will be done if the student has demonstrated mastery at a higher level of proficiency when compared to their previous attempt.  Note: the reassessment opportunity does not have to be in the same format as previously provided.
